Week 22 5 Months Down!

Hi all how are you?! Well this week was a HOT and busy week! All week it was in the high 80s to high 90s!! Also I hit 5 months in the mission!! Let me tell you all about it!

Okay boom last Monday was P-Day, and for fun we went and bought Frisbee Golf Disks and played frisbee golf! Elder Warden beat me after 9 holes by 4 strokes!! It was super fun, and we only had to go in the river a few times..

Boom Tuesday we went on exchanges, so we woke up, immediately got ready and packed and drove am hour to Allentown!! We had district counsel there, and then Elder Burrell and I went to work! We taught about 5 lessons that night, and we never had a lull in the work! For dinner, all four of us elders went to a Cheesesteak shop and got some Philly-Style Cheesesteaks (cheese whizz& peppers.) I am sad to say I did not like it, and neither did my lactose intolerant stomach haha!!

Okay Wednesday we woke up in Allentown, and for exercise, we went and played tennis!! Then afterwards we studied with Elder Dummer and Burrell, and then came home. It was so hot, but we knocked a lot of doors that day and used our bandanas to the max!! We also went over to Lidianalis house, and in the middle of reading the Book of Mormon with her, she says “oh yeah I want to be baptized on the 27th!” We were like ummm AWESOME LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Thursday we didnt have much planned again, so we just went finding.. knocking doors asking people questions like “what is the purpose of life?” or “how do you find happiness in your life?” We found some people that wanted us to come back and answer more of their questions, but man it took work. It was hot, and the humidity does not help!!

Friday was a busy day!! Lidianali had her baptismal interview Friday morning at the Ortiz house while Elder Newman, Warden, and I all sat upstairs and read a smoothie receipe book haha! Lidi passed her interview, and is excited to get baptized on the 27th! We worked hard Friday contacting people and had a lesson with Iris! Also I got a cool picture of Reading from the 13th floor of a senior citizens apartment complex where we ate dinner with a member!

Saturday was really REALLY hot! In the morning, we went to Alex’s baptism! Alex is someone who the English Elders here in Reading had been teaching! At about 11:00, we got a message from the mission telling us to stay indoors between 12:00-5:00 because of the severe heat, so we did our studies and contacting calls during that time! Saturday night, I got to open a package from my girlfriend, and I just wanted to give her a huge shout out! Chelane got me all of my favorite candies and snacks: Oreos, Rolos, Gushers, Popcorn, Chex Mix, Funyuns, and more hahaha!! Thank you so much!!
Sunday was really REALLY REALLLY hot!!! The hottest we saw was 113° on our car thermometer, and 110° on our weather app! Thank goodness the building had AC this weekend! Unfortunately, we did not have any of our investigations come to church this sunday. But David and Maria came and made a plan with Bishop to get to the temple! After church, we did a little swap lesson with Elder Close and Elder Cooper to hand off some English speakers, and man did Elder Close and I bake! We walked 10 blocks (yes I counted) in the 105 degree heat and taught the restoration while we walked. These two guys had a lot of great questions, and by the time we said goodbye to them, they said they would read more in the Book of Mormon and come to church this sunday! But man was it HOT!! We both were basically covered entirely in sweat. Walking back to our car, we stopped at the Ortiz house to seek some water and air conditioning for a second. We were there for about 10 minutes, and in the little time I was there they made us eat a huge plate of rice and beans with snails on top. Snails. I ate snails. BLECK!

Um today we went and played frisbee golf again, but at a different course. After 18 treacherous holes spending 5 to 15 minutes looking for our disks in the bushes and rivers, here are the totals: Elder Warden: Averaging 4.22 SPH (strokes per hole)  finished with 76 strokes! Elder Petty: Averaging 4.16 SPS finished with 75 strokes! Haha it took us like an hour and a half of neck and neck constant competition. Despite the humidity, swarms of bugs, gigantic spider webs, and blazing sun, Elder Petty wins by a mere 1 stroke. Hahaha unfortunately theres no other courses in Reading. We did them both, but I think we will try again next time and improve our records! As for the rest of today, we are going to go shopping, call our families, and then go contact the new people we found last week!

This week was busy and hot for sure, and I am so grateful for all of you. I am making a lot of amazing memories and so much personal progress. I am so grateful for all of your love and support. The mission never is easy, but it is going to be so worth it. I have an incredible testimony of Jesus Christ, how he really is involved in our daily lives, and I have made goals and plans to make sure I have a happy future. I couldn’t be doing any of this without you guys, so just know how much I love you all. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen!
