Week 23
2319! WE GOT A 2319! Hey everyone how was your week? We are doing great here in Reading and I am so excited to tell my adventures from this week!!
Umm this week was pretty good! I want to focus on a couple big things that happened! Okay first, Lidis baptism was pushed back. She couldn’t do it on Saturday, so we switched it to this Thursday (August 1st) at 5:00PM! We are so excited for her!!
We ran short on miles this month, so we have been walking quite a bit these last few days! One day in total I think we walked like 10ish miles (I know it’s not that much) but man was it hard!! It is really hard to be effective when you spend all of your time walking from one place to the other! Because of all of the walking this week, I have found such a new appreciation for our car and how many more people we can help because of it!!
On Friday, we started a big service project, and it was a huge highlight of this week! This man from Vietnam wanted to make a back yard patio, so my companion and I, and Elder Cooper and Elder Close came to help! We worked really hard for hours and hours in the sun, and after two days the finished project looks beautiful!! It was so satisfying to work hard, get sweaty, and just help others. I have found such an appreciation this week for service! Constantly, we were being offered water and food for our service, but we told them “No breaks until its done!” Hahaha
So also this week, we had our first basketball night! This was the first week, and so we did not have a lot of people show up. But with the people that did show up, we had a blast!! My companion got hit in the eye going for a rebound, and got a little black eye. Unfortunately everyone blames me for it, but it’s been a lot of fun hahaha! (Also this was the first time I’ve played basketball in a long time and it was SO FUN!!)
On Sunday, we had a lot of success!! Lidianali, her mom Mimi, and two of her siblings came to church!! We were so happy to see them! Also, David and Maria came and were so happy to be there (they’re working towards going to the temple together!) Sunday after church, we took the classic Beatles picture on Washington and 5th, so look for that in the other email!!
I want to hear more from you all! I love hearing about what you’re doing and what you’ve accomplished!! Congratulations to my Sister Abi for going through the temple! Also my boy Kade went through and is preparing to leave for Texas on his mission!! Umm my cousin Carissa is getting married soon and I’m so happy for her! Chelane my girlfriend just got back from a service trip to Samoa! Ben Mulberry turned 19 shout out to you!! Um I cant think of any more events this past week, dont feel bad if I missed yours!!
I am learning to love my mission a little more every day, and I am really looking forward to transfers! Transfers are on August 6th, and either my companion or I will leave Reading!! (For sure this time) By this time next week I will know who it is, and next Monday you will find out if I am leaving Reading or staying with a new companion!!
I love you all and I’m so grateful for your support! Have a fantastic week and email me!! Also be sure to check out ElderPetty.com and huge shout out to my sponsors Emily and Rob Petty (parents lol)
PAZ A TODOS
Love,
-Elder Petty
