Mission Leadership

The missions of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are structured to provide adequate supervision, training and guidance to the serving youth while directing the efforts of ministering to all.

The Mission President is called from experienced and worthy adult members of the Church. They have typically held leadership positions (callings) such as Bishop and Stake President and are typically called to server about 3 years. The Mission President’s wife serves with him.

There are other adult volunteer missionaries, referred to as “Senior Missionaries” who serve in the mission leadership including staffing positions in the Mission Office, managing and servicing the cars used by the full-time missionaries and other responsibilities as necessary for the particular mission.

Assisting the Mission President in overseeing the full-time missionaries is a full time missionary called to serve as the “Assistant to the President”.  The Assistant to the President oversees and works with the Zone Leaders.

Zone Leaders are called from full-time missionaries in the mission to oversee a large geographical area and the District Leaders serving in that zone. Zone Leaders are a support to the District Leaders.

District Leaders are called from full-time missionaries in the mission, from within a particular district within the zone they serve in. They support all of the companionship’s in the district and perform baptismal interviews for the investigators taught by the missionaries in their district.

Other positions of leadership within the mission include Trainer and Senior Companion.
