Week 42

Hi everyone!!

This week was really really busy and so much is changing!! Let me catch you up on the life of Elder Petty!

Last Tuesday, just as mysteriously as he arrived, Elder Nelson disappeared to Portugal.. It was really sad to say goodbye to him, but he was really excited to go to his assigned mission. Elder Macrum and I mourned our loss by getting some Taco Bell and knocked doors searching for prepared people.

On Thursday, we had district counsel and I got to meet a new missionary! The Elders in Atlantic City have a Visa waiter named Elder Gannon! He is waiting for his Visa to go to Brazil!

On Friday, we had exchanges with the Elders in Atlantic City and it was a lot of fun! We Played basketball at 6:30 for exercise, did our studies, then Elder Anderson and I went to work!! We stopped by a lot of the people they are teaching and tried to have teaching visits with them. Well, we ended up knocking a lot of doors because none of them answered. But we actually met a man washing his car that talked with us for like 20 minutes! He was from El Salvador, knew about missionaries like us and accepted our invitation to come back. I loved talking to him about faith in Jesus Christ and how it really can change your life.

On Saturday, we received transfer news! And I found out that I am leaving Vineland!! Ugh it was so hard to tell the members on Sunday, and I took some pictures with them. I really loved my time here in Vineland, and the beautiful families and people I have met. I truly feel like a part of the family here. Tomorrow morning, I leave to Broomall, Pennsylvania, and then to my new area. I don’t know where I am going but I am really looking forward to enter a new place in the Christmas season!!

This week has thrown a lot of curve balls and the work here in Vineland is a little slow. Elder Macrum and his new companion are going to get it booming again in the next month though!! He is a little scared to take over the area, but I am so proud of his growth and I know he is so prepared.

Elder Macrum has been such a fantastic companion. Not only have we seen miracles and helped people come closer to the Savior, but him and I really have become best friends. We haven’t had one argument, we are always laughing, and we have grown so much together. I’d really like to appreciate him and just let you all know that the Lord knew what he was doing. I am so grateful for the time we have spent together and I am sad to see it end.

As we are in the Christmas season, please look for ways to be more Christlike. Look to serve others. Be in tune with the spirit and he will help you find those opportunities. We really can change. We can become better people. It is one of the most important purposes of this life. I love you all and thank you for your support. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts and letters and packages! God Bless!!

-Elder Petty
